Final wander before we have to leave for the airport, and I found this fine specimen! Cockerels appear on all sorts of things across Lisbon, although not usually as big! (You can read why in the story about the Rooster of Barcelos here if you want.)
Last full day of the holiday today, and I spent some of it visiting the Cristo Rei statue which over looks Lisbon. It was built in 1959, and thanks God for sparing Portugal in WWII (during which it remained neutral). It was inspired by Christ the Redeemer, the statue in Rio de Janeiro.
In Sintra today, and spending some time in the News Museum (which is very cool should you ever be here). The gazelle like legs behind me belong to Joe!
Having a couple of hours on the beach as we’ve come along the coast from Lisbon, to Cascais, for the day. Very beautiful it is too. Using plenty of sunblock though, I don’t want to be orange by the end of this holiday!
Enjoying my first day here in Lisbon exploring the Castelo de São Jorge.
Had a 5.00am taxi this morning, which was a bit of a shock to the system, but we’re on our way. Sat in Schiphol airport at the minute awaiting our second flight.
Yippee! Off on our jollies tomorrrow, so today is packing day. Can’t wait.
